PGA Professional Jason Somers

Jason Somers is from Bettystown, near Dublin, in Ireland. I learned the game of golf from the age of 10 years, playing at Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club where I reached a low handicap of Plus 1. From the age of 15 to turning Professional at 21 years of age I played alongside the likes of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry competing in Irelands’ youth and senior amateur events. Being part of provincial panels I got to learn from some of Irelands’ leading teachers and also got a first hand view of what it takes to make it to the highest level.From an early age I had a keen interest in teaching golf. My club professional was one of the most sought after coaches in Ireland and I followed many of Irelands leading Professionals and amateurs lessons there. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to complete my PGA training working at Irelands number 1 ranked golf course, Portmarnock Golf Club. Since then I have gained experiance teaching all levels and also increased my knowledge by learning from some of the worlds best.I have moved to Italy to take this position as I see huge potential for the growth of the game here. With the Ryder Cup only a few years away in Italy there is going to be huge demand and I want to here to introduce and guide players from the start. Teaching how to play the game and how to enjoy it in many different forms is what’s most valuable to me.
